MSc Speech and Language Therapy (pre-registration) at Leeds Beckett prepares you to join the speech and language therapy workforce as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your career will involve advocating for communication rights and supporting individuals to live fully and expressively.
This accelerated, pre-registration postgraduate degree is suitable if you have a relevant undergraduate degree - such as psychology, linguistics, English language, or biology. You'll also be passionate about fostering collaborative relationships that support communication and wellbeing around eating and drinking.
As part of this course, you'll:
Professional recognition
On successful completion of this course, you'll be eligible to apply to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and become recognised as a speech and language therapist (SLT). The HCPC have certain standards all registrants must meet to legally practice under a protected profession title.
You'll also meet the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Eating, Drinking, and Swallowing competency framework, giving you the knowledge and skills to work with people with eating and drinking differences.

You'll be taught by a dedicated team of speech and language therapists with wide-ranging clinical expertise and ongoing practice. Many have close links with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, local NHS trusts, and community-based services.

As a student, you'll also benefit from access to specialist facilities. These include an interpersonal skills suite and a resource room stocked with a wide range of assessment and therapy tools to support your learning and professional development.
