Essential information
The courses will take up to five years to complete, depending on previous qualifications and the course chosen. The apprenticeships comprise on-the-job practical training with academic learning. This approach combines face-to-face teaching, laboratory workshops, reflective practice and formal assessment.
The experiential learning element of the courses focuses on the student’s workplace and specific areas of project work they are undertaking with regard to meeting key attributes required of a professionally recognised Building Services Engineer. Students will work towards the end point assessment for this Degree Apprenticeship, which will provide Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) via professional review. Employers also engage with professional development to help the student progress through their training.
Students will be required to attend the university on a day release basis.
A minimum 112 UCAS points or equivalent. Apprentices applying without these formal UCAS points but with sufficient relevant work experience will be considered for the course. All applicants are required to have GCSE English Language at Grade C or above and Mathematics at Grade B or an equivalent qualification.
Please note applications are submitted through the relevant employer, not directly from applicants.
Before starting an apprenticeship, applicants will be required to sign a “Commitment Statement” which details key information regarding the apprenticeship such as learning requirements, responsibilities of the apprentice, employer and university, assessments, delivery schedule, etc, some of which are detailed below.
