It will attempt to cast light over the unfinished discussions that have permeated Europe after May ‘68. The recovery of the so-called academic drawing in the context of a brand-new Spanish democracy brought back questions that go far beyond the graphic attributes of those drawings. Questions that strongly resonate in today’s academia, such as the detachment between architectural education and practice, the intellectual relevance of the professional architect, or the discussion about skill and specialization within the profession.
These events of talks, debates and demonstrations provide a rich platform of opportunities for students and staff, together with external audience, to engage with the expanding scope of critical research and creative practice traversing fields of Architecture, Landscape, Interior and Urban Design.

María Álvarez García (ARB, PhD, MA, MArch) is an architect and Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University (Leeds, UK). She also teaches at Aarhus School of Architecture (Aarhus, DK) and the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, UK).
Her research on architectural drawing and architectural pedagogies has been published in different journals and presented at different international conferences.
