Germany Entry Requirements

You can find information below containing the minimum qualifications you will require. This varies depending on whether you want to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Entry requirements do also vary for each course, but the information here will give you a general guide.

As well as your academic qualifications we will also consider your personal statement and references. If you are studying A Levels or the International Baccalaureate, you can find these entry requirements on the course pages in our Online Prospectus.

Germany Entry Requirements

Qualification: Abitur/Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife 

Grade: 2.5

English language requirements: Grade 10/Gut

Qualification: Bachelor/Magister Artium/Diplom

Grade: 

Upper Second Class: 2/Gut

Lower Second Class: 3/Befriedigend

In addition, for European applicants the Duolingo English Test is accepted for direct entry to Bachelor’s and Master’s courses. The following grades would be required:

  • Score of 105-115 overall (no skill below 95) for courses requiring IELTS 6.0 no skill below 5.5
  • Score of 105-115 overall (no skill below 105) for courses requiring IELTS 6.0 no skill below 6.0
  • Score of 120-125 overall (no skill below 105)  for courses requiring IELTS 6.5 no skill below 6.0

IELTS (International English Language Test Score) is the main English language qualification we ask for, although we do accept equivalent qualifications. For more information, please visit the English Language Requirements page.
