BA (Hons) sport business management

Blend your passion for sport with business management expertise and real-world leadership skills. You will examine key business areas, including marketing, finance, economics, enterprise, strategy and events management, and their relationship with sport.

A focus on digital analytics in big business will provide key skills that support today's global businesses.

You will learn about the increasing professionalisation of sport, investigate the requirements of governance and explore how the changing needs of the consumer have transformed it into one of the most lucrative industries in the world. Millions of pounds are spent each year on broadcasting rights, licensing and merchandising, and this course has been designed so you can seize these new and exciting opportunities.

We believe it is of paramount importance to continually communicate and motivate our students. With this in mind, we use various types of social and interactive online media to encourage you to actively engage and focus on your studies by using Facebook, podcasts, video streaming and e-portfolios.

Sport volunteering opportunities

We offer a sports volunteering programme for anyone with an interest in sport. We have numerous opportunities with organisations such as West Yorkshire Sport, Kirklees Active Leisure, the Rugby Football League, Leeds City Council and Camp Leaders USA.

There are also opportunities to volunteer at major global sporting events - previous events have included the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics and the Paralympics.

Sandwich year

This course offers the opportunity to take a sandwich year; a year of paid employment in industry which will build your skills and experience. This is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree, typically making your course four years in total.

Students who choose the sandwich route find it helps with both their studies and getting a job after graduation. It can build your confidence, contacts, and your CV. Leeds Beckett advertise lots of placement opportunities and provide support in helping you find the right placement for you.
