Bank of England expert to reveal financial outlook for Yorkshire at Leeds Beckett University lecture
Alex Golledge, who is the bank’s Agent for Yorkshire and Humber, will give an update on the performance of the economy and outline expectations for the months ahead to local business leaders, professionals, and students at the university’s annual Bank of England lecture on Tuesday 8 February.
He will take questions on a variety of key financial and economic issues at the event, which will follow the release of the Bank of England’s quarterly forecast.
The lecture has been a key date in the local business calendar for 20 years, with Alex following in a long line of past and present BoE officials to speak at the university for the second year running.
Head of the Retail Institute at Leeds Beckett University, Olga Munroe, will be asking questions from those attending to Alex.
Speaking about the lecture, Olga said: “With the amount of uncertainty currently, it is so important for businesses to understand as much as they can about the current landscape.
“Our role as a university is not just to equip local businesses with a skilled workforce, but to provide the information and insights they need to make informed decisions about their future, particularly when dealing with the challenges posed over the past few years.
“This is an opportunity for those involved in local business to put their questions to a key figure from the organisation that dictates financial policy for our local and national economy.”
Tickets for the free online event, which starts at 09:00, are available here.
