Networking and nostalgia at LBU’s India reunion
Deveral Capps, Dean of Leeds Law School, talked to guests about Leeds Beckett’s large global alumni community as well as the university’s academic partnerships in India. This was also a chance to remember some of the honorary graduates, including actor Amitabh Bachchan and politician Praful Patel, and prominent alumni from India who have made significant contributions to their industries.
The British Council provided a fitting backdrop for this special gathering, offering an atmosphere of intellectual exchange and camaraderie. The alumni in attendance were treated to dinner, creating an ideal setting for reconnecting with old friends and forging new connections within the Leeds Beckett community. The evening was filled with shared stories, and a sense of pride in the collective achievements of the university's alumni.
Special guest at the event was Nameeta Kagvate, Head of the Global Talent Network programme at the UK’s Department for Business & Trade. She shared insights into the Global Talent Network, an international community of professionals working in key science and technology sectors with aspirations to build international careers in the UK.
The Global Talent Network is a platform for talented professionals seeking opportunities in the UK's AI, Quantum, and Life Sciences sectors. The programme enables connections between international talent and employers, providing valuable information on relocating to the UK and navigating its diverse visa options.
Leeds Beckett alumni were encouraged to explore the Global Talent Network, with the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and explore exciting career prospects in the UK. The programme aligns with Leeds Beckett University's commitment to fostering global connections and providing its alumni with opportunities for international growth.
The evening concluded on a high note, leaving attendees with a sense of renewed connections, memories, and the promise of exciting global opportunities. As the Leeds Beckett University alumni community continues to thrive, events like these strengthen the bonds that endure long after graduation.
