Teaching Excellence Project funding supports a range of research projects for the development and support of innovative learning and teaching in support of the university's education plan.

Application process

  1. Download the application form and guidelines
  2. Complete the application form
  3. Seek the support of your head of subject (or dean of school)
  4. Email the application form to clt@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

We are happy to discuss your proposed project and/or provide informal feedback on a draft version of your application.

If you submit an application and have not received an acknowledgement within five working days then please get in touch. Applications will be considered by a panel and funding, for successful project bids, will be available as soon as a project is agreed, or when the project is set to begin (within the same financial year). Any budget allocated should be used within the same financial year (this is a university constraint). There is a potential for projects (not budgets) to span financial years by designing this into the project, although there can be no guarantees of continued budget availability beyond a current academic/financial year. This needs to be considered, particularly when submitting projects towards the end of the academic year.

Project support and management

  1. Support for project development

At times, CLT will identify topic areas they would like to have researched and will provide resources to support staff, who would like to research the topic within their subject/school, in developing a proposal and seeking collaborators. This will be particularly useful to staff who are new to pedagogic research. Staff who are confident in doing so may still propose their own project ideas.

CLT will post ideas for projects in the Research into Teaching in HE Collaboration channel.

  2. Budget management

The budget allocated to the successful applicant's project will be held within CLT, who will provide procurement support, but the applicant will be responsible for monitoring their expenditure to ensure there is no budget overspend.
