About Dr Nehal Mahtab

Dr Nehal Mahtab is the Course Director of the UG BA (Hons.) Business and Management, Pathways and the Distance Learning Provision at Leeds Business School. He joined Leeds Business School in 2006 and since then he has made an significant impact in different areas of teaching and learning resulting in the enhancment of the Student Experience and Student Journey. He is an award winning academic and had won numerous awards namely Course Director of the Year, Course Leader of the Year, Personal Tutor of the Year and Motivational Tutor of the year as part of the Vice Chancellor's Staff Excellence Awards and Student Led Golden Robe Awards. Nehal is considered by his peers as reliable leader with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively to drive the school and student engagement, individual growth, and course development as well as provide hands-on mentoring and guidance. He posses exceptional written and verbal communication abilities with proficiencies in public speaking, delivering dynamic presentations, effectively conveying complex concepts, and forming long-lasting relationships with colleagues. executives, peers, and students. He also possess strong research and development skills with the capability to create innovative courses. He had taught in multiple formats including face to face, hybrid, and online.

Nehal has over 20 years' of experience in the HE Sector teaching in different areas of business and management. Before joining Leeds Business School in 2006, he had worked in Duquesne University, USA (2001-2003) and the University of Dhaka (1999 - 2001 & 2003-2006).

He is a Senior Fellow of the HEA since 2013. His first degree (UG and PG) is in the area of Finance and Banking. He then completed his second Master's as a Fulbright Scholar from USA. Subsequently Nehal did his PhD in the area of Strategic Decision Making in the Financial Sector from the UK.

In addition to Course Leadership and Teaching, Nehal has supervised PhD students to completion and he has examined many PhDs both in the UK (both as internal and external) and Abroad and is currently an external examiner for two UK universities.

He has extensive practical, academic and research experience in the field of Strategic Management, Banking and HRD. Prior to joining academia he worked at the Standard Chartered Bank in Bangladesh.

Nehal has an extensive experience and has led the development of the UG Business and Management, Pathways and the Business and HRM courses at Leeds Business School. He has experience of sitting in validation panels both as an Internal and External. His teaching focuses on Strategic Management Strategic HRD and Leadership. In addition to the course management, teaching and research Nehal has successfully led the development of franchise partnerships with Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, and Vietnam of the Business and Management Programs.
