Research Interests

Helen is committed to research that enables all young children to achieve their full potential as engaged learners and valued members of society. She is most interested in the process of early language acquisition and how young children develop their language and communication skills.

In her PhD, Helen is researching how translanguaging pedagogy in the early years can support young learners with English as a second language. Through this research, she seeks to advance equity in early childhood education, where all children have the right to equitable and accessible learning opportunities.

The findings will be used to impact on the development of future policy and practice, that supports EAL learners in early years education.
