Course Director for Digital Pedagogy

Meri Nasilyan is Course Director for Digital Pedagogy in Carnegie School of Education. She oversees MSc Digital Pedagogy, MA Transformative Education, PGCE Online, PG Cert SEN Coordination and MA Inclusive Practice programmes. Her research interests are in educational technologies, HE leadership and rankings, virtual identity, and artificial intelligence. She has held professional tenures in sectors of higher education, research, e-marketing and education consultancy. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).

Meri leads the online provision in Carnegie School of Education by developing course content, implementing new innovative strategies for curriculum, establishing national and international partnerships.

Research Interests

Meri has conducted research at University of Oxford, examining postgraduate students' perceptions on virtual communities in social media (Twitter, Facebook) and their identity transformations. She is the founder of an Environmental Education School Curriculum 2012 in Georgia, region of Adjara introducing environmental education in four local schools and their policy and curriculum. She is also the recipient of Aster Excellence Award for her Dissertation from University of Manchester for her research study on international students' experiences with Academic Writing.

Meri recently completed a three year-long Erasmus+ project 'Reimagining A Positive Direction for Education' investigating and collecting narratives of international educators experiences with digital pedagogy, pandemic and implications to future practice and community.

At Carnegie School of Education, Meri intends to look into new ways of implementing technologies for distance learning and and working on new strategies to ensure a swift move to the forefront of educational technology experimentation.
