Rebecca Pyatt

Lecturer

Rebecca is a Lecturer in Primary Education at Leeds Beckett University. Her areas of specialism include Mathematics and Inclusion.

Prior to working at Leeds Beckett, Rebecca has worked as a primary school teacher in Leeds and Internationally in the Seychelles and the USA. She has predominantly taught across Early Years and Key Stage 1 and has held a variety of leadership roles including phase leader and SENCo.

Rebecca's interest in Primary Mathematics developed when the mastery approach to teaching mathematics was introduced. Having seen the positive impacts on the children's progress and their changing attitudes to maths, she worked alongside colleagues to develop the mastery approach across the whole school.

Rebecca's passion for inclusion and working internationally with children from a variety of different countries and cultures has shaped her classroom practice. This experience coupled with being a SENCo helped make her classroom a warm and welcoming environment where all children flourished regardless of their backgrounds. She is interested in working with trainee teachers to explore their opinions on how to make a classroom inclusive and develop their understanding of effective inclusion.
