Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Leeds Beckett University announce exciting new partnership with City of Leeds Basketball Club.

Students from Leeds Beckett University will benefit from a new relationship with the City of Leeds Basketball Club (COLBC) that will see their talented coaches leading on both the men’s and women’s Athletic Union programmes. The collaboration will also offer a range of additional benefits from coach and official development to National League playing opportunities for Leeds Beckett students.

The City Of Leeds Basketball Club continues to drive and develop the sport in both Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region, and will have 18 female & male teams active in the Basketball England National League structure this season from U12s Girls & Boys up to Men’s Division 3. With a thriving Academy system at Allerton High School and a community outreach programme that connects with over 1000 young people each week, it is the ideal time for the Club and the University to come together on this new project.

Discussing the new relationship, Leeds Beckett University Student Sport Manager, Jo Mannion explained:

"We’re really excited to be working more closely with the City of Leeds Basketball Club. We feel this will be beneficial not only to Leeds Beckett students who will receive high standard of coaching but also prospective students who are considering coming to the University. We believe this new relationship shows a strong commitment to providing an excellent and expansive basketball programme at our University."

COLBC Director Matt Newby was excited about the club returning to the University basketball programme:

"Leeds Beckett University has a proud tradition in sport and we hope this new aspect to our partnership will honour the institution's sporting legacy. This collaboration with LBU highlights our ambitions to establish a whole sport pathway for girls, boys, women and men in the city.

I feel that connecting, or reconnecting the dots, in many ways was natural for both parties. With LBU students receiving high quality delivery from established coaches and additional opportunities outside of BUCS competition we are excited about what the future offer will look like and how it will evolve."
