As a Leeds Beckett student, you have lots of opportunities to gain new skills and build your experience throughout your degree. Gaining experience - of any kind - can help you stand out from the crowd when it comes to applying for graduate roles. It can also help you to figure out what you want to do in the future and get a taste for the world of work.

  1. Part-time jobs

    If you’re looking to work alongside your studies, our ‘applying for part-time jobs’ information is a great place to start your search. We also have an annual Part-time Jobs & Build your Experience Fair at the start of the academic year.

  2. Volunteering and working with societies

     Beckett Careers work closely with Leeds Beckett Student Union who offer a huge range of opportunities to volunteer, work with societies and build your experience.

  3. Placements 

    Beckett Careers have a whole team dedicated to working with you to find and apply for the perfect placement to compliment your course and interests. You may be interested in a 12 month sandwich placement or something shorter term, our placement experts can help you to explore your options.

  4. Making connections with employers 

    Throughout the year Beckett Careers run a number of jobs fairs and employer events where you can connect with employers, network and build connections. Visit our 'What support is available' page for more information.

  5. Access e-learning tools

    Our fantastic range of online learning resources are sector leading and can help to boost your career development. You can access personalised e-learning, development tools, career short courses and lots more. It’s a great way to explore opportunities that match your interests and work through them at your own pace. We recommend you can start by ‘Taking your Career Pulse’ and progress from there.

  6. Development programmes and skills sessions  

    Participating in careers sessions and development programmes is an excellent way to build your experience. We run regular sessions on Linkedin so you can learn how to grow your network and make the most of all it has to offer. You can also attend sessions on a range of  professional skills that will support your career planning and progression. Our career development programmes, including ‘Women in Leadership’ and ‘Digital Leap’, are unique to Leeds Beckett and can help you to develop critical skills for industry, giving you the edge in the graduate job market.
