We welcome Doreen Balabanoff, PhD and J. Davis Harte, PhD who will share their work on:
Environmental Insights: Trauma-informed Design (J. Davis Harte)
Embodied Spatial Experience: Light-Colour-Darkness (Doreen Balabanoff)
This lecture is hosted by first and second year undergraduate students and academics (Joan Love and Dr Sarah Joyce) from the Interior Architecture and Design .
About the lecture:
The two speakers are working on a project together, to reimagine the design of birth environments, and will touch upon this work, while presenting other aspects of their diverse research/practices. Both are working from a fundamental interest in embodied experience and sensory awareness, understood as important in creating spatial settings that respond to emotional desires and physiological needs. They share an interest in respectful design and ecological attunement as approaches that inform greater sensitivity within environmental design.
