An Introduction to Montessori: Montessori Education and the pre-school child (three to six)
We are delighted to be hosting three twilight webinars this Autumn. These hour-long sessions, aimed at those colleagues new to Montessori education, will be delivered by expert Montessorians.

Focused on Montessori’s ‘planes of development’ the sessions will each give insights into the philosophy of education for children aged birth – 3, 3-6 and 6-12.

The International Montessori Institute (tIMI) works in partnership with education professionals in all sectors from early years settings through to Higher Education providers, in order to further a unique, child-centred approach to education.

Through a partnership between the Carnegie School of Education and the Montessori Group, we work with international partners to undertake research to advance our knowledge and understanding of Montessori education and the improve professional practice in order to enhance the educational experience of children. Our research themes are very much rooted in the work of Dr Montessori. Through our research we seek to inform education policy change nationally and internationally in order to advance outcomes for children.

Montessori Education and the pre-school child (three to six), presented by Dr Michelle Wisbey, Anglia Ruskin University.

Michelle has over 25 years’ experience running her own Montessori nurseries and pre-schools. She and her team currently run five Montessori nurseries and pre-schools in Essex.

Michelle is a university lecturer leading Montessori programmes along with continued involvement in the delivery and assessment of the new Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies. Michelle has mentored and tutored students in Early Years education for the last 8 years and has supported Early Years settings to achieve the best outcome possible in Ofsted inspections. Her opportunity to work in settings with newly qualified Early Years teachers and leadership has led to the development of an interest in creating best practice models of practice both in the UK and in Malawi.
