Issa Ali Al Mamari is a MA Graphic Design student from Oman. In this blog, he shares his experience of studying the course so far and explains what he’d like to do after graduating.

Introduce yourself – tell us who you are, where you are from, and what you do?

I am Issa Ali Al Mamari, and I come from the Sultanate of Oman. Currently, I am a student at Leeds School of Arts at Leeds Beckett University, pursuing a Master's degree in Graphic Design. Exploring art with innovation is my passion, and I thoroughly enjoy engaging in practical projects that allow me to apply creative concepts and techniques.

What course are you studying at Leeds Beckett and what has been your favourite part so far?

I am studying MA Graphic Design. My favourite part of the course so far has been the opportunity to delve into practical projects that challenge me to innovate and experiment with different design approaches. These hands-on experiences have been immensely rewarding and have fuelled my passion for graphic design.

What opportunities have you had as part of your course?

As part of my course, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals, participate in design workshops, and engage in live projects that simulate real-world design challenges.

The course has provided networking opportunities and access to industry events, allowing me to gain valuable insights and connections within the field of graphic design.

What does the future hold for you?

In the future, I aspire to become an influential figure in the arts scene in Arab countries, leveraging the knowledge and skills I have acquired during my studies at Leeds Beckett University. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation in graphic design and contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape of the region.

What advice would you give to someone considering studying your course at Leeds Beckett?

To someone considering studying a Master's in Graphic Design at Leeds Beckett University, my advice would be to embrace creativity, curiosity, and experimentation. Take advantage of the practical projects, industry collaborations, and networking opportunities offered by the course to hone your skills and expand your professional network. Stay open to new ideas, seek inspiration from diverse sources, and never stop learning and growing as a designer.
