Simone Guerzoni outlines his project.
'The Origins of the Welfare State: A Comparative Study of the United Kingdom and the Italian Republic, 1948-1978'
Simone guerzoni
"My research examines the formation of the Italian welfare state in relation to British social policies, particularly the National Health Service. I explore how British welfare ideas influenced Italian debates on healthcare and social security before and during the post-war decades. By analysing parliamentary records, political discourse, and institutional reforms, my work investigates the extent to which the British model partially shaped Italy’s welfare trajectory amid economic and political transformations. This comparative approach highlights transnational exchanges in welfare policy during a critical period of European social reform."
