Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Voice and Spoken Word

Led by Dr Oliver Bray, the Voice & Spoken Word research cluster is concerned with the relationships between voice, body, physiology, and culture.

Sound Space Place

This research cluster is interested in embracing spatial audio techniques to shape sound on a spherical domain, where space becomes a usable compositional element.

Musical Synchronocities

Led by Professor Sue Miller, the Musical Synchronicities research cluster is concerned with relationships between music and movement

Digital Storytelling and Innovation Network

The cluster aims to explore the impact of immersive storytelling in the context of modern globalisation. We will do that by putting focus on digital technologies and by considering the convergence between traditional and innovative platforms.

Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary research and scholarship designed to promote equitable, just, and inclusive futures.

FABRICATE

Over the next two academic years, the Fashion-Architecture Research Cluster FABRICATE will develop research into the histories, traditions, and cultural specificity of situated fashion design in Leeds. As well as showcasing academic research, this network will also support emerging graduate designers by connecting them to industry.

Secret story network

ANNA ZALUCZKOWSKA

Secret Story Network is a partnership between interactive story experts, academics, TV writers, producers, directors, app builders and audiences. The stories are delivered into a story world that you (as an audience member) help create and expand, centred around your favourite TV show. The stories take place on smartphones and tablets in chat environments like WhatsApp and Messenger. The stories are role player games (RPG) led by a story conductor in which the audience actively participate. Our aim is to develop a new storytelling ethos, methodology and some highly engaging content IP.

Secret Story Network

Yorkshire Sculpture international

In 2018 and throughout 2019 Leeds Beckett University worked in partnership with Yorkshire Sculpture International to help celebrate a festival of sculpture, inspire our students, deliver a series of public Sculpture Talks, put on a symposium, publish new artists’ books and fund a practice-based PhD.
