My PhD by practice was the result of a series of investigations which have built into a body of
work, collectively titled 'Covers'. I have chosen to focus on three iterations of this series: photographs presented in a collective exhibition in New York, a live performance at MAC Birmingham and an installation including video at Nottingham New Art Exchange. Choosing to re-activate images first presented as album covers by funk, soul and dance performers from the 1970s and 80s this series fits into a broader enquiry that seeks to address points of encounter with historical artefacts and situations.
I’m a tutor on the MA Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art and a visiting Senior Tutor in MFA Fine art at Ruskin School of Art, University of London. I’m currently undertaking a two year project commissioned by Royal London Asset Management, FutureCity and supported by the Museum of London. I have current and upcoming exhibitions and performances at Dulwich Picture Gallery, The Showroom Gallery, Matt’s Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery and The Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray, Ireland. I’m redesigning Tate Britain’s Play space which will open in May 2024 and be open for 1 year
