The Beautiful Things About... a documentary film - Adele Senior

Leeds School of Arts academic, Dr Adele Senior has recently undertaken an Arts Council England and Paul Hamlyn funded residency with community arts organisation Heart of Glass to support a project with artists Andy Field and Beckie Darlington and children from Broad Oak Community Primary School.

The first outcome of this three-year project is a documentary portrait of Parr in St. Helen’s, which has been written and presented by the children themselves in collaboration with the artists. The film entitled The Beautiful Things About… features interviews with members of the local community – from taxi drivers to chip shop owners to former miners – and tells the story of Parr through the eyes of the children. The children’s collective aim for the project, which they have named Project Parr, is to improve the lives of the people in their community.  Following a recent screening at Lucem House Community Cinema Plus+ with an audience of councillors, decision makers and members of the wider community, the whole film is now available to view on the Heart of Glass website, where you can also read more information about the project:
