Marielle Reuser is an ex-Rockstar Games artist (Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2) turned writer and researcher with a special interest in women's health and AI-generated art. While the current discourse centres on ethics, her research work aims to highlight how AI-generated art can be used in a positive way. Marielle's PhD study presents a new framework to improve wellbeing for (peri)menopausal women in the workplace, while also exploring the potential of Generative AI to enhance Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) methods by deepening the understanding of lived experience. During workshops underpinned by Photovoice (Wang, 1997) principles, participants take pictures of their daily lives to reflect on their wellbeing and generate visual representations of their challenges, strengths and insights. These photographs serve as a foundation for further discussion and inspire potential change. The study builds on the Photovoice method by incorporating Generative AI, enabling participants to visualise experiences that go beyond the limits of traditional photography—rendering the intangible aspects of (peri)menopause visible.
As part of her PhD, she writes memoir to examine what it means to inhabit a woman's body. Drawing on her experience of working in male-dominated environments while managing PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and seeking relief in British and Norwegian landscapes, her Substack explores how bodily cycles shape interactions with work, nature, and the self. On Instagram, she shares book reviews and occasional drawings.
