What will happen to older MyBeckett content after the Ultra upgrade?
On 31 December 2026, all MyBeckett “Original” Modules and Communities will become read-only. This means that staff and students can access the content, but no changes will be possible.
This read-only content will remain available in MyBeckett until it is due to be archived. The next batch of Modules and Communities that will be archived is the 2022/23 academic year, in August 2026.
Blackboard, the supplier that provides the software used to run MyBeckett, has announced that they are retiring the Original view of modules and communities on 31 December 2026.
At this point, all Original content will become read-only. This means it can be viewed by anyone who is enrolled on the module or community but the content cannot be edited.
This is part of Blackboard's switch to Ultra view.
We do not have the ability to stop Original content becoming read-only, this is a global setting applied by the supplier.
We can support the following options:
- Change the settings for individual Original modules so that they convert to Ultra view.
- Provide training and guidance to help you to get started with Ultra, including how to copy content from Original.
