Living in halls is so amazing. I have everything I need here. Everyone just gets on so well. I've become a lot more independent. It is the easiest way to make friends.
Living in halls really enhances your time at university because you get a chance to meet loads of new people you wouldn't otherwise get to meet. So yeah, it's great to live in halls.
Living in halls gives you an opportunity to bond with people who either might be on your course, or you might see around university. There's a great community vibe and it's cool because you get to meet different people from different places, and because you get to meet different people, you get to meet their friends as well. When I first moved in, they all seemed really nice, and then as a flat, we went out later that night, then we kind of bonded over going out. So yeah, it was quite easy to settle in.
Having Leeds on your doorstep is great. It means you've got instant access to loads of different food places, loads of different shops, anything you really want to do, you'll get to find somewhere in the city which is great.
There's a big selection of halls at Leeds Beckett that, like, cater to everybody. I was happy with the one that I chose because it was very sociable, but there's one for every type of person.
Within halls, I have everything I need here. The laundry room, community space, everything is so close together, and everything you need is on site.
I went online to the accommodation website and just went through all the virtual tours because it lets you see everything without actually having to come here, and it's just transparent.
When I visited Beckett on the open day, I got the opportunity to look at the accommodation, and it was just nice to see it in person because it was reassuring that it was going to be a comfortable living space in a nice environment.
It's great that all my bills are inclusive over the year and it allows me to budget and plan over the year.
My rent coincides with my student loan payment so it means that I can budget effectively, and not get any surprise bills.
The Wi-Fi is super fast. I don't have any problems talking to all my friends or family, streaming YouTube, Skyping.
Most importantly when I was picking my halls, I just, I wanted to make sure I feel somewhere safe and like settled in and that's exactly how I feel here.
All the on-site staff are always here to help. They are so, so friendly and offer 24-hour help.
Living at home you're not entirely independent, so coming to halls, it's just completely different. You're living your own life and just getting to be independent, and it's not like your stepping out from home, and that, you're on your own. Like, we have officers, we have all the support we need, so it's a nice little step in between being completely independent and living with your parents.
The university was very helpful putting on a lot of events within the first couple of days, to help people kind of merge together and make new friends, and that was really useful because we could find other people who are staying while we lived and doing the same course as us.
I met some people online before I came on the Facebook. We had a group chat, so I knew who was going to be in my flat but I also got to know people who were in the accommodation, so I knew that when I come here, there'd be a lot of people I could talk to.
The community and halls is great, there's lots going on, or in social area playing games, watching films, and yeah, you always have something to do.
It's nice because you have your own responsibilities now, so you feel like an adult.
You feel at home because everyone has moved here, not knowing what's going on, and you just settle in and it's great.
