In her lecture, Abigail spoke about the role of ‘storytelling’ in developing cultural change, bringing communities on board and stressed the importance of devolving cultural power to communities across Leeds.  Throughout the year LEEDS 2023 has been able to deliver a diverse, inclusive, and powerful programme of events; by the people of Leeds, for the people of Leeds, with the people of Leeds which has also engaged with audiences at a national and international level. It is her strong belief and hope that the legacy from the power of these events will be felt by multiple lives, for many years to come.

Abigail also shared details of key events which are due to take place across the city between now and the end of the year.

  • ‘Northern Dreaming’, a new book of 18 stories which will be given to babies born in Leeds during 2023;
