Jamila Pereira - Modern slavery and human trafficking refuge worker at Ashiana Sheffield

My name is Jamila Pereira. I'm a Bissau-Guinean BA(Hons) International Relations graduate. Throughout my degree I understood how much I loved writing and how much politics meant to me. From then onwards, I utilised that passion to become a published writer, a freelance journalist, screenplay writer as well as being shortlisted for the Top 20 Merky Books Writer’s Camp 2019.

Today, I'm a modern slavery and human trafficking refuge worker at Ashiana Sheffield. I share my perseverance and resilience through my writing and my voice, so that no one feels alone while they're in their own journey.

Finally, I'm a true believer that intergenerational and gender equity is the pavement to success and development; therefore, investing in our youth and their wellbeing is key for a prosperous future.
