Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. What you'll learn
In an increasingly dynamic and competitive global business landscape, entrepreneurial strategy is central to organisational innovation, economic growth, and individual career development. This module introduces the core principles of entrepreneurship, exploring how strategic thinking, opportunity recognition, and innovation can transform ideas into viable business ventures. Through a blend of theory and practical engagement, you'll examine the role of entrepreneurial strategy in driving economic value, creating employment, and addressing real-world business challenges. The assessment combines an academic report with an employer-based activity, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate theoretical understanding and apply entrepreneurial concepts in a live business setting.
Gain an awareness of the economic environment that modern businesses operate in. This module will give you an understanding of the principle economic perspectives and theories relating to the operation of the global economy. You'll study important worldwide macro-economic issues as you investigate key global markets, economies, and challenges.
Become familiar with key marketing principles and appreciate how contemporary marketing concepts are used by organisations. You’ll gain an insight into modern marketing challenges and the consequences for organisations if they fail to become customer orientated. This module will help you develop your skills to analyse business environments and successfully apply appropriate marketing mixes and strategies to achieve organisational goals. You’ll learn how to set your organisation apart from others and build a loyal customer base.
Examine how managers can understand and use different financial information to make informed decisions. You'll consider how different shareholders can use financial statements as a means of assessing a firm's performance. To solidify your understanding, you'll gather and analyse information from published annual accounts of a Public Limited Company, identifying its financial position and main policies. By the end of the module, you'll be able to effectively use and recommend accounting techniques and tools to evaluate investment opportunities.
The bond and evolution of data, analytics, and commercial application has rapidly changed the way in which businesses operate. This includes the way they make money, sell services and products, measure success, invest in sustainable people and business practices and the ethical impact decisions have on society. This module will introduce you to the technical terminology needed to understand and confidently explore business data, analytics, and tools. You'll explore the wider context of business information, data types and characteristics, the role of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data and the impact on individuals and society. You'll also understand how to use digital tools practically to produce an accurate narrative of findings.
Get stuck into the people side of business. Studying four main themes, you’ll cover: motivation, management, leadership and teams. You'll look at these within the context of culture, political environment, global working and intercultural competence. Not only will you gain a strong understanding of leadership and managing people, but you’ll also become a critical thinker able to articulate the skills you can offer future employers.
What you'll learn
Understand the structure of business finance and its application to the decision-making processes in organisations. This module aims to give you a general grounding in the role of financial management within a business. We'll examine the theoretical concepts that underpin the modern approaches that businesses take towards finance and look at key financial management decisions. Studying both internal and external sources of business finance, you'll learn how to address financing decisions and raise capital. Throughout the module, you'll also develop your intellectual, academic, communication and problem-solving skills.
Explore how businesses and organisations achieve competitive advantage through efficient operations and supply chain strategies. In this module, you'll investigate real-world business scenarios, using both qualitative and quantitative data to understand, apply, and analyse key concepts and principles in operations and supply chain management. Your learning will be hands-on and practical. Assessment takes the form of a multimedia case simulation based on a real-life client organisation. You'll step into the business, analyse its operations and make strategic recommendations for improvement using the tools and techniques you've learned throughout the module. Towards completion, you'll have the skills to critically evaluate operations and supply chain processes and understand how they drive performance and success in today's competitive business environment.
Understand the nature of managerial decision making and its complexities including the tensions between ethics and cost effectiveness. You'll explore the role of cognition, perception and motivation in decision making, as well as the negotiation skills essential in effective decision making. You'll engage with both theory and practice as you learn the foundations for making team decisions and reaching a collective agreement.
Build creative solutions to the sustainability challenges facing contemporary new business enterprises. You'll work collaboratively to develop a proposed ethical small business venture. This could be articulated through a number of contexts, for example, a product or service, process, paradigm, position or business. You'll then attempt to raise crowdfunding finance by presenting your proposal to an ethical investment bank.
Explore the leadership skills and competencies required for managers in a global environment. This module focuses on managerial employability and how you can gain the expertise to get to where you need to be. We'll equip you with competences relating to job search, application and selection, as well as an understanding of your individual 'personal brand'. You'll also develop a strong self-awareness and the confidence to maximise your employability upon graduation.
Appreciate and critically analyse innovation and new technologies. This module will enable you to understand their importance for international businesses and how adopting new technology can support multinational companies. You'll assess new technologies using different approaches and methods, including from a consumer perspective. You'll learn to critically evaluate the main debates in this subject area as represented by recent research and explore how to make reasoned choices about alternative approaches.
What you'll learn
Apply your learning to a strategic organisational issue of your choice. You'll develop and manage a client-consultant relationship, and work in a group supported by a member of staff deliver outcomes for the client using the relevant academic knowledge, skills and critical thinking. This module will be delivered in collaboration with professional mentors, and investors and will add real-life value to your CV.
Innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers in the global economy. In the ever-changing world of work, both have grown and will continue to grow. This module aims to develop your understanding of the challenges in setting up and developing entrepreneurial business opportunities in today's global economy. We'll increase your awareness of the ways globalisation impacts how entrepreneurs are able to develop business ideas, set-up a business and successfully operate it. You'll also explore contemporary issues in enterprise and entrepreneurship leadership.
Gain a critical understanding of organisations as a whole. We'll consider topics such as the business environment, strategic capabilities and purpose of organisations, and the importance of culture as a driver of strategy. You'll learn to distinguish between business and corporate levels of strategy, and the dilemmas that come with innovation, mergers and internationalism. Throughout the module, you'll develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to critically analyse, benchmark and evaluate any organisation from a strategic perspective. Upon completion, you'll be able to contribute to the strategies of any organisation by working with complex real-life business problems.
Leaders spend significant amounts of time managing the human resource needs of their staff and aligning this strategically with an organisation's requirements. In this module, you'll learn how the approaches to leadership and behaviour of leaders are considered as they strive to support staff needs in fast-changing environments. Together, we'll evaluate the role of leadership practice in the implementation of strategic human resource management in organisations. We'll also consider the impact of this on those being managed and on organisational outcomes.
This module focuses on the area of supplier development in procurement. You'll identify the key factors impacting procurement and investigate the different theoretical models of supplier relationship management. You'll then look at how these models can be used to plan for supplier development activities and improve the competitiveness of the overall supply network.
Option modules may include
Explore the importance of ethical business decision-making. On this module, you'll take a case-based approach to enhance your existing knowledge of business operations, gaining a critical insight into building an ethical and sustainable business. You'll look at how the governance of firms should be organised and how to consider stakeholders when developing approaches to the social responsibility of businesses. After studying this module, you'll have the ability to critically identify, appraise and make recommendations around the ethical and responsibility impacts of business decisions in a range of settings.
Work placements give you exposure to the real industry environments you can expect to go into after you graduate. As part of this module, you'll apply for and undertake a paid placement - typically for a full academic year - between your second and third year. This gives you the chance to use the knowledge and skills you've developed during the first two years of your course while developing transferable employability competencies. You'll have the opportunity to build business contacts in your network and gain an understanding of the roles available to you within the careers market.
Build an in-depth understanding of how business is conducted in Scandinavia. Studying intercultural management in Denmark offers a unique opportunity to explore Danish and wider
Scandinavian approaches to management, negotiation, and communication. These perspectives complement UK-based management practices and broaden your global business outlook. You'll gain real-world insights into cultural difference, strengthening your cultural intelligence, adaptability, and employability in both UK and international markets. Your time in Denmark provides valuable practical experience, enabling you to identify emerging cultural trends, undertake intercultural research, and assess how individual cultural traits influence international business practice.
This course offers the opportunity to take a ‘placement’ year – a year of paid employment in industry which will build your skills and experience. This is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree and will extend the length of your course by an additional year.
Students who choose the placement route find it helps with both their studies and getting a job after graduation. It can build your confidence, contacts, and of course your CV. Leeds Beckett advertise lots of placement opportunities and provide support in helping you find the right placement for you.

You can book and borrow AV equipment through the media equipment service accessed online via the student hub and located in the library at each campus. Equipment includes: 360 Cameras, iPads, GoPros, MacBooks, portable data projectors, portable projection screens, flipchart stands, remote presenters, digital cameras and camcorders, SLR cameras, speakers, microphones, headphones, headsets, tripods, digital audio recorders and PC/laptops (a laptop loans service is provided on campus in the library on both campuses). Student laptops are also available from the laptop lockers located in the libraries.

You can book and borrow AV equipment through the media equipment service accessed online via the student hub and located in the library at each campus. Equipment includes: 360 Cameras, iPads, GoPros, MacBooks, portable data projectors, portable projection screens, flipchart stands, remote presenters, digital cameras and camcorders, SLR cameras, speakers, microphones, headphones, headsets, tripods, digital audio recorders and PC/laptops (a laptop loans service is provided on campus in the library on both campuses). Student laptops are also available from the laptop lockers located in the libraries.
This list is not exhaustive, costs are approximate and will vary depending on the choices you make during your course. Any rental, travel or living costs are also in addition to your course fees. If you choose to study via distance learning, you may not be able to access all of the facilities listed if you are not able to visit us on campus.
