In the urbanised landscape we inhabit, every part has been designed or at least influenced by human beings. Take a broad view or look in detail and you will see a complex living organism that is the canvas for landscape architecture.

On this course, you will explore techniques which will help you become a creative and reflective designer, primed to start a rewarding career as a chartered landscape architect.

We are experts in landscape architecture - our teaching experience spans more than 50 years. We also have a proven track record of helping graduates find rewarding careers.

We are dedicated to ensuring your course suits your needs, so you will be able to tailor your studies towards your career aspirations. Through live projects and competitions, you will be tasked with responding to the numerous environmental challenges facing today's landscape architects.

On this flexible, studio-based course, you will benefit from our multimedia studios equipped with drawing boards, computers and model-making facilities, specialist workshops.

Professional recognition

Our course is accredited by the Landscape Institute. LI accreditation requires education providers to meet important criteria which ensure high standards are maintained, meaning you can be sure your course meets the standards needed for you to enter the landscape profession.

You can see examples of our students' work in our 2020 End of Year Festival, and in our 2019 End of Year Show publication.

Specialist facilities

You'll have access to our multimedia studios equipped with drawing boards, computers and model-making facilities, our 24/7 Library, and IT suites. The Sustainable Technology & Landscape Resource Centre provides opportunities for hands-on practical experience.

Guest lectures

We often run a number of guest lectures and workshops throughout the year, both on campus and in conjunction with external organisations. The INSIDE/OUT lecture series brings together some of the most exciting names from the fields of art, architecture, design, fashion, film, music, performing arts and beyond. You can catch up on previous lectures by visiting the Leeds Arts Research Centre site

Your projects are supported through lectures, specialist workshops, small group seminars and one-to-one tutorials, together with UK and overseas study visits. You will benefit from our multimedia studios equipped with flip-top drawing boards, parallel motion boards and model-making facilities, a 24/7 library, specialist workshops and a Sustainable Technology & Landscape Resource Centre.

The virtual studio (CAGD) provides a valuable learning environment particularly for part-time students and those studying at a distance. The studio provides a forum for tutor support and feedback as well as opportunities for creative dialogue with colleagues. Many students choose to undertake 'live' or practice based projects working with local community organisations or for clients such as the Amsterdam planning department and you will become part of an extensive network of landscape practitioners and researchers.

A further examination is taken after working in professional practice before you become a Chartered Landscape Architect.
