Working in the UK
If you’re looking for part-time work while at university, we have a dedicated team helping students find casual work.
On this page you'll find some useful information about our jobs service and working in the UK if you have a student visa.
You will have the opportunity to apply to be a Student Ambassador. It’s a great way to get involved with university events while earning competitive pay.
You could be working at Online Open Days, creating blog and vlog content, and more. To learn more about applying, please contact globalvillage@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
If you applied for a student visa, there may be a limit to how many hours you can work. This is normally no more than 20 hours per week but check your Biometric Residence Permit for the number of working hours you are allowed to work.
Employers have a legal obligation to check your term dates before you can start work. You must provide your employer with a printout from the Leeds Beckett website showing the term and vacation dates for your course.
The UKCISA website gives further guidance on working with a student visa.
If you successfully graduate from your degree during or after the summer of 2021, you may be able to work for two years at any skilled level in the UK. This is called the Graduate Immigration Route.
The new route will require a separate visa application process that will be for two years. After this time you may be able to transfer to a skilled work visa if you have a job that meets the requirements for this visa.
