Beckett Careers are here to support students and graduates with all aspects of career planning, decision making, job applications and helping you to reconise and develop your employability skills. 

If you’re looking for where to start with your career, or are ready to start applying to roles; you’ll find everything you need on this page to take those steps. This includes:

Beckett Careers Online

We're located in the Careers Centre in Leslie Silver Building at City Campus from 13:00 to 16:00 each day. Drop in to get advice on part-time work, placements or work-based learning, job searching and applications and much more.

Throughout the year we host workshops covering everything from CV writing through to developing your online presence. We host employer-led events across multiple sectors so that you can benefit from networking with recruiters and industry professionals.

Events

You can access a hundreds of part-time roles via our Jobs Board on Beckett Careers Online. Here you will also find work experience opportunities, project work, internships or anything else on a shorter term basis. We often share opportunities via email and on our @BeckettCareers instagram.

Myhub

We have a dedicated Placements Team to support you in finding and applying for placements. Some courses offer a sandwich year placement, whilst others include the opportunity to complete more flexible short-term placements. Yes! Your CV is not the only part of the job search puzzle but it's an important one. Did you know that it's important to not only have a CV but to tailor it for each job you're applying for? During term-time, we run tailored workshops for international students. Some of these are delivered in partnership with Student Circus, which provides bespoke employability advice for international students. Our friendly team is here to support you with all aspects of your career planning and decision-making. With our support, you'll be equipped with the tools you need to develop your professional skills and understand how to articulate these effectively to an employer.

The skills and experiences you gain outside of your course are just as important to employers as the knowledge you develop in your studies. Whether you’re just starting your first year at university or are about to graduate, it’s important you make the most of this time to get as much out of your time at LBU as possible. To help you get started we've developed a list of the skills that employers tell us are most valuable to them, and advice on how you can develop them.

We are dedicated to helping you get the work experience that is right for you. This could include, but isn't limited to, placements, internships, part-time jobs, volunteer work and freelancing. Opportunities can be paid, unpaid, short or long-term, in-person or online, meaning you have the flexibility to choose activities and experiences to suit your circumstances. Engaging in a range of opportunities will help you to stand out when applying for jobs, explore a variety of career paths and make informed decisions about your future.
