Studying Creative Media Technologies

I have wanted to go to university for as long as I can remember, but I sometimes thought it was out of my reach. I see the power of the media and wish to harness this for good. Media can provide an escapism for many, and it also provides a way to connect to people. For many it promotes freedom and expression, but for others it compounds negativity. To counter this, it is my aim to create content for others which will empower, inspire, and comfort

To help me achieve this, I selected my course at Leeds Beckett. It offered the best academic programmes of study, and I was especially drawn to the work-related opportunities and fully intend to take part in this. Leeds Beckett was always my first and only choice, and it's turned out to be the right choice as I feel I fully belong here.

How will the Bright Futures Scholarship help you with your studies?

The support from the Bright Futures Scholarship will naturally help me throughout my course, but to get the most out of my university experience, I want to be able to participate in internships, excursions and trips and be able to have some financial flexibility to make choices that support my studies whilst I live in Leeds. I would like to use the money to enhance my creative projects such as my filmmaking, graphics and web design where I would use some of the money for hardware equipment, props and costumes. This would make a huge difference in my productions as it would give me wider flexibility but would also enhance my portfolio so that it would appeal to future employers/clients, helping me transition into the world of industry post-university.
