Studying Accounting and Finance

I’ve wanted to be an accountant since I was young and have always been interested by the ways in which money is managed and how impacts people’s lives. I decided to study Accounting and Finance as both areas really fascinate me, I feel that course will put me on track for the career I want after I graduate.

My experience as a student has also been great and already I feel like such a valued individual on my course. Being with people my age in a close-knit community has been such a great experience of my time at Leeds Beckett so far, and it has given me the confidence to push myself to achieve. 

How will The Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship help?

Going to university was something that was never explained very well to me when I was at school. I always thought that university was for “people who had money.” I also associated going to university with being in debt! 

However, when I found out that studying at university could be a real opportunity for me, I wanted to better myself by becoming the first person in the family to attend. I'm so proud of what I have achieved.

I currently have to work part-time to help cover the costs of coming to university, so balancing work and study has been quite difficult. The opportunity The Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship has given me will help to give me both financial and academic support by allowing me to reduce my current working hours and enable me to maximise my studies and time in university.
