Studying Physical Education
Rugby has always been a very prominent part of my life. When I was growing up, sport and PE lessons allowed me to have a dedicated time and place where I could enjoy something I loved doing. These experiences were also heightened by the friendly and enthusiastic coaches and teachers I was fortunate enough to have.
I came to Leeds Beckett as my old rugby academy coach highly recommended the university for its facilities, teaching, and campus. I now play rugby for the university and I love the community feel in my team and on my course.
I am thoroughly enjoying my first semester studying Physical Education and I have always had an interest in being a teacher due to the positive influence some teachers made in my life when I was at school.
I believe that sport can be a vital part of a young person’s life as it allows them to have an outlet for their emotions and teaches them numerous different transferable skills.
My aspirations to be a PE teacher are driven by the want to be a part in changing some children’s futures, as I feel strongly about teaching life skills being able to guide children through life, as well as hopefully spark a love for sport.
