Studying Human Geography and Planning
Throughout sixth form I developed an interest in geography, specifically, the human geography and urban planning aspects of the subject. Pairing this with my interest in engineering, I soon realised this could be a very real prospect to study further at university. Coincidentally, soon after I had this realisation, a careers fair came to my college and exposed us to careers in planning. It was then I realised I wanted to do this full time and give it my all.
After searching online for courses, I found human geography and planning at Leeds Beckett it seemed the perfect fit for me. Coming from an area that is known to be quite deprived, I've experienced first hand how people can be affected by the environment around them and believe I can make a change. I've seen how a decline in local industry and infrastructure can negatively impact upon quality of life, and I'm keen to gain skills to help me make a difference.
