Studying Sport and Exercise Science
I chose to study Sports and Exercise Science because I want to be able to help others keep as healthy and fit as they can. Good health is key to enhancing chances of a high quality of life, increase longevity and positively impact wellbeing.
I really want to make a difference in this area and to make an impact on the day to day lives of ordinary people. I've seen first-hand how poor health can negatively impact individuals, families and caregivers. I am incredibly motivated to add to current research and to come up with new, creative ideas on how to keep people fit and healthy to enhance their lives.
What do you hope to gain at Leeds Beckett and how will the Scholarship help?
During my time at Leeds Beckett, I'm really keen to study abroad, and I've never really travelled overseas before. Having the opportunity to study my course at an international university would be a really insightful way of learning different ideas and approaches to the study of Sports and Exercise Science.
I know that LBU has a really good 'Study Abroad' programme and I'm keen to get involved in that, and I'm also really interested in the Carnegie School of Sport projects for volunteering overseas in the summer. I think this would be an amazing learning experience and would get me broadening my horizons so I can use my experience to benefit others. The support from the Carnegie Class of 75-77 Scholarship would be a real help in making sure I can access these kinds of exciting opportunities.
