Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Bethany is a BA (Hons) Filmmaking student at Leeds Beckett, originally from Suffolk she chose our university after a friend who had studied here recommended the course to her. She’s always been passionate about Filmmaking and after developing her skills at college realised that her passion could become a career, with the help of an education at Leeds Beckett University’s prestigious Northern Film School.

"It makes me feel incredibly proud. I’m still kind of astonished and in shock. It means an awful lot, and shows that I’ve done well and that I’ve achieved something. It will 100 per cent make the world of difference to me. My mum is only able to work part-time and struggles to support me. I work 40 hours a week as a waitress. I’d like to think that hopefully if I make a successful career out of coming to this university then I’d like to do the same to help future students achieve their best."

Studying Sports Coaching

My adventure as a gymnastics coach began when I was just 11 years old. It all started because of my intense love for the sport. Back in those early days, I used to jump at any chance to help out the coaches by demonstrating moves. Little did I know that these early experiences would shape my future. I found my passion and purpose in sports, and I often joined free sports clubs in the community.

These experiences opened my eyes to the joy of sports and the art of coaching. I started with a PE teaching and tutoring apprenticeship, which provided the practical experience and crucial teaching and coaching skills I needed. However, I wanted something more and decided that a degree would be the best thing to build a strong foundation for a future career in coaching and teaching.

However, my dream of creating a sports company and contributing to the local sports community keeps me motivated despite these immediate obstacles. I'm resolute in my determination to navigate these financial challenges, complete my education, and ultimately leave my mark in the world of sports coaching.
