Studying Accounting and Finance

I was drawn to the Accounting and Finance course at Leeds Beckett as I want to study further so that I can become a Chartered Accountant. My long-term goal is working up through the industry and becoming a finance director after years of working at an organization. I have always wanted a job that you go into every day knowing that what you do has value, and I feel that because accounting is so diverse, each project will bring something new to learn from.

How will the Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship help your studies?

The support from the Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship will help ease some of the financial burdens that comes with university and allow me to not have to stress as much with trying to juggle how everything is going to be paid. I planned to spend the money on mostly academic supplies such as textbooks, course materials and any paperwork that requires printed software.

In addition, I would also think about using some part of that scholarship to fund avenues for extra-curricular learning like attending relevant workshops, networking events or even getting certifications which support my course and make me more marketable in the job industry. Allowing for financial aid simply opens the door to being involved in these activities that would further my academic experience and career opportunities
