Studying Mental Health Nursing
As the first person in my family to attend university I feel that I have had to work consistently harder in order have my efforts recognised. I overcame numerous obstacles when I was younger, and the challenges these presented are what drove me to study Mental Health Nursing at LBU.
I feel like that there is real room for improvement within certain bodies of the NHS and these inadequacies can negatively affect set them back on their road to recovery. Communication is key when looking at the different ways to best support individuals within the mental healthcare system.
It’s a long-term goal of mine to help others to understand some of the shortcomings of interagency communications and how I feel they could be improved.
How will The Professor Bligh Scholarship help?
I see this scholarship and mentoring programme as an extension of my university course and feel as though it will provide me with extra support to help me see things from a professional perspective.
I have always excelled when I’ve been guided on a one-on-one basis, and it would be a privilege to work alongside someone who is dedicated to helping me experiment and to enhance my way of thinking.
Having such expertise alongside my studies would make such a difference to my university experience and gives me the opportunity to explore possibilities that wouldn't arise without the opportunity of this scholarship.
