Studying Primary Education
The biggest influence on my decision to study Primary Education wasn't just one person, but the many children I have taught over the years. It is such a joy watching a child thrive and learn. To bring up a child from having no language or communication skills to them mastering simple sign language before the ability to speak is extraordinary to experience.
Having experiences with children who would be labelled 'challenging students' had a huge impact on my choice to pursue a degree in education to be able to continue to have a positive influence on future generations of school children. To show them how they can all be the same greatness and how everyone learns differently but everyone can achieve the same.
How will the Bright Futures Scholarship help support you during your time at Leeds Beckett?
The money from the Bright Futures Scholarship will be used to help support me in day-to-day life to travel to and from university. It might not seem like much, but being able to commute without having to worry about costs is such a valuable thing to take into consideration.
The scholarship will also help me access social and networking opportunities with others on my course which unfortunately I have had to miss out on because of lack of funds.
Once I complete my undergraduate, I would also like to obtain a further masters at Leeds Beckett on alternative teaching methods such as Montessori as well as a Level 2 in Forrest School on top of my degree so that I can broaden my abilities to educate more children in different ways. I hope to create positive bonds with schools so I can gain as much knowledge as I can before educating the next generation of students.
