Studying Accounting and Finance
Coming from a working-class family I have been raised with a high work ethic and a belief that perseverance, dedication, and believing in myself will reap rewards. Being the first person in my family to go to university, I have been given a fantastic opportunity for which I am incredibly grateful.
My mum has been is my role model and a key factor in why I have chosen to study Accounting and Finance at LBU. I feel inspired to make my mark as a strong female in a male-dominated industry.
In order to realise my aspirations, I currently work part-time to support myself both studying and living away from home. This is a particular concern with the cost of living going up, and I’ve found it difficult to manage my studies and my university experience. I want to be able to make the most of my time at LBU.
How will the Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship help?
It’s so important to me that I can focus my time and energy on my studies and I’m grateful that I've been awarded The Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship to give me the support I need.
The funds will provide enough support to enable me to reduce my hours at work and provide the opportunities to volunteer or obtain an internship as an accountant.
With enough hard work and with the opportunities given through my course, I plan to take my degree further once I graduate and to take my chartered accountancy exams and hopefully work for one of ‘The Big Four ‘firms.
