I always loved maths in high school and have always had an appreciation for numerical data. During college, I set the goal of becoming a chartered accountant because I had studied accounting in my Business BTEC, which made me realise that accounting might be the career I should pursue because I enjoyed it so much. I also found out that accounting can be very diverse and offer lots of different opportunities within the industry.

I selected Leeds Beckett after conducting research on its facilities and environment and found it to be an outstanding university for business and accounting courses. I was unaware, for example, that a significant number of its students have been accepted by prominent accounting firms like Deloitte and PWC. In addition, 95% of students said they loved studying accounting and finance at the institution, and there is a lot of industry-standard technology available. These factors helped me to cement my decision of coming to Leeds Beckett.

With the funds from the Sir Bob Murray CBE Scholarship, I could focus on a placement that would help me achieve my professional objectives by fusing academic theory with practical experience. The placement would also provide me with work experience and an idea of what the accounting and finance industry is like.
