Studying Law
Choosing to study Law at Leeds Beckett was an easy decision to make because the university's commitment to practical, community-focused legal education aligns perfectly with my experience volunteering abroad in places like Syria and Lebanon.
My passion for human rights and justice grew from these experiences, and Leeds Beckett offers the perfect academic environment to help deepen my expertise and continue helping others. Leeds Beckett's Law Clinic also allows students to gain hands-on experience by providing legal services to those in need, which aligns with the university's commitment to social justice.
My experiences volunteering abroad gave me many opportunities to develop crucial skills like adaptability, cross-cultural communication, and problem-solving. It expanded my global perspective and made me more aware of the complexities of human rights issues in different cultural contexts. In spite of these experiences, however, I recognize the need to deepen my legal knowledge.
How will the Halifax law Society Scholarship help?
The Halifax Law Society Scholarship would support this journey, helping me become a well-rounded legal professional and preparing me for a career that combines advocacy with legal expertise. In later life, these experiences and the scholarship will enable me to work effectively in international legal environments, support vulnerable populations, and contribute meaningfully to solving global legal challenges. By pursuing law-related opportunities alongside my studies, I can apply classroom concepts to real-life cases, build professional networks, and refine my skills.
