As part of this partnership, final year events management students have the opportunity to complete the IAPCO Congress Project Management course via an online portal. This enables our students to expand their skill set, giving them a future advantage in the jobs market when they graduate.

IAPCO Education Manager, Elly Butler said “IAPCO is dedicated to supporting the next generation of meeting professionals as early in their professional development as possible, encouraging them to explore a career in the global business and professional events sector. We congratulate the 39 students who completed the course. IAPCO celebrates their commitment and dedication to enhancing their professional development through this partnership.”

Elly heralds how IAPCO and its community are also learning from the great work of our energetic and enthusiastic students, especially in relation to the White Paper developed by Olivia Preston-Lee. The White Paper is a final year project where students are challenged to critique a key issue impacting the global events industry and make informed recommendations. In her paper, Olivia considers the opportunities and risk associated with AI. She also made her own recommendations based on a detailed research project that critiqued industry and academic sources.

Talking about Olivia’s White Paper, Elly says: “Olivia’s paper ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Events Industry: Opportunities and Risks for Event Operations and Marketing’ is valued research for the industry, as many practitioners are adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) into event management operations whether via marketing, research campaigns or deeper into organisational decision-making.”

Going forward UKCEM is excited to further develop the partnership and give more students opportunities and visibility among the highly professional and experienced global IAPCO community.  All students are encouraged to post a summary of their White Paper on their LinkedIn page, as well as include completion of the IAPCO Congress Project Management course in their achievements and qualifications, developing and demonstrating their industry knowledge, skills and enhancing their employability opportunities.
