Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Clearing opens on 2 July 2026 but, if you’ve not already applied through UCAS, or you’ve already got your results, there’s no need to wait – you can apply for our sport and exercise science course before 30 June.

Joe BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science

Hello, my name is Joe, I'm in my second year of study, and I'm doing a undergraduate degree of Sports and Exercise Science.

One of my defining moments at uni has definitely been using the facilities at the university. I'm always in the laboratories doing big practicals with my friends. I'm really enjoying this professional environment working in the labs, wearing all the kit, using all this professional equipment, blood lactate testing. All that stuff I've found really, really interesting and it's definitely made me think about going into that in the future.

A defining moment I had was an organised trip to India. We went over there to do some community work, a bit of learning at the university itself. One of the main stand-out moments was we played a massive football game. It was our Leeds Beckett students versus the ISMS students and that was a real massive icebreaker between us and the Indian students, and we made a lot of good friends from that. Leeds won, Leeds won.

A great experience from the basketball team was in my first year. We'd had a really great season but we had the final game against Hull University, and they were undefeated for the season. It was a huge game for us as we had to get the win and luckily we managed to come through, a super intense game. It was really fun, but it brought us all really close together and it was a huge win, went out and celebrated after and that was a massive moment for me in first year.
