If you’re passionate about driving social change, join us in exploring what it truly means to become an educator. This education studies degree provides you with the freedom to explore aspects of learning that give voice to you and others as we confront real-world challenges together.

As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Study key ideas of educational provision, how these have been used to promote change and their impact upon society
  • Focus on both advocacy and collaboration to promote critical thinking and social justice literacy
  • Develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to contribute to a wide range of professions
  • Have the freedom to personalise your degree with specialist modules, placements, and through an independent research project
  • Question educational issues including the social influences surrounding how children learn and potential barriers to learning

Your course structure
This degree is structured around three critical themes:

  • Social justice, inequality and lived experience of diverse communities
  • Contemporary debates that examine the relationship between education policy, democracy and the state
  • Critical Reflection and Research

Breadth of learning
Through specialist modules, you’ll shape your learning to meet your developing professional interests. As you study, you’ll be supported by our expert team that work with professionals in national and international settings.

Completion of an independent research project will see you develop as a researcher, enabling you to examine issues that are key to your interests and professional career.

Professional Experience
Our students have recently completed professional placements in museums, education, schools, community and charity organisations, hospitals and refuges, and youth work.

Creating inspirational educators

Our educational centres encourage collaboration and ensure that your learning is informed by the latest research and developments in the sector.

The school is committed to having a deep, beneficial impact within and beyond the education sector and breaking down barriers to learning. We aim to develop new approaches to improve pupil outcomes through our courses, partnerships, research and practice.
