Zara Worth
Having received a Studentship for a practice-led PhD from Leeds Beckett University, Zara Worth is currently exploring the possibility of social media platform Instagram as a site for visual and performance art under the proposed title: The Artist Presents: Hybrid Practice for the ‘always-on’ generation. How might Instagram be used as a site for art? As the title suggests, Worth uses the social media platform Instagram as a strategy, subject and site for her art practice; often her work employs appropriation, détournement and humour.
Prior to Doctoral study Worth received a Goldsmiths Scholarship from the School of Visual Cultures to study MA Contemporary Art Theory (Distinction, 2015), and received her BA(Hons) from the University of Northumbria in 2013 (First-class). Her post-graduate studies were also supported by an award from the YLCE, and her Undergraduate studies by an award from Ede & Ravenscroft. She was shortlisted for the 2013 Woon Art Prize, the 2012 DepARTure Foundation Prize, and was awarded a Highly Commended Prize from the Mercer Art Gallery in 2009. Recently she was commissioned by Helix Arts to produce ‘FEED’ a new work comprising performance, new media and sculpture.
