How do I access a support worker?
Apply for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) via the GOV.UK website.
The Disability Advice team can support you to complete your DSA application. Please book into an online drop-in session or attend an in person drop in on either campus.
For more information, please visit our Disability Advice and Support webpage.
Book and attend your Needs Assessment
- Look out for DSA2 letter (outlining support)
While you are applying for DSA you can also access Leeds Beckett drop-in sessions here:
- Meet with a Leeds Beckett Disability Adviser (to discuss your needs)
- Complete our 'Disability, Access and Inclusion - More About You' form. You can then book an appointment with a Leeds Beckett Disability Adviser via MyHub
- In the meeting, the Disability Adviser will create a Reasonable Adjustment Plan (RAP) with you. This may include a recommendation for a Support Worker
I've had an appointment with a Leeds Beckett Disability Adviser, what now?
If a Disability Adviser has recommended any of the following support:
- Practical Support Assistant
- Notetaker
- Library Support Assistant
- Study Assistant
- Lab/workshop support workers
- Exam Support Workers
- Sign Language Interpreters
You will be contacted on your student email address and asked to confirm if you would like to access the support that has been recommended for you.
You will be asked to complete a 'Support Worker Agreement' form which outlines relevant policies and processes (e.g. cancellation policy, consent, etc.).
We will arrange your support and email you with further details, including the name(s) of your support worker(s).
