What is Carnegie Innovation?
Carnegie Innovation is a Sport Health Tech Incubator hosted by Leeds Beckett University and located within the Carnegie School of Sport on the university's Headingley campus. The incubator targets early-stage and scaling businesses in the sport, physical activity, health and wellbeing technology sector. It provides high-quality co-working and incubation space within the repurposed Grade Il listed Fairfax Hall, embedded in our world-leading sport and health research environment.
What we do
Carnegie Innovation combines physical infrastructure with access to:
- applied research expertise and facilities
- innovation support
- commercialisation pathways
This strengthens the West Yorkshire region's sport health tech ecosystem. The Incubator offers a community of early-stage Sport Health Tech businesses to help support you as you grow your business.
A programme of workshops and talks from supporting experts is also available along with social and networking events.

Backed by a £1.1million investment from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority through the West Yorkshire Investment Zone, Carnegie Innovation supports the regions aim to establish itself as one of the UK’s most influential hubs for health tech and the ideal place to start a Sport Health tech business.
We're also connected to our wider region's academic community through our association with In-Path, a pan West Yorkshire academic brokerage service. This collaboration allows us to ensure that we can link businesses to the right university expertise, facilities talent and funding mechanisms.
