Pleasant Pastimes Scholarship

An award supported by a textile based craft group formed over 10 years ago

The Pleasant Pastimes Scholarship was created by a group of ladies in Halifax. They shared a passion for crafting in all its forms and wanted to ensure that their skills and knowledge were passed onto future generations. The group have weekly meetings at the Bankfield Museum in Halifax. They not only enjoy their shared skills and companionship but also trying new skills and seeing younger generations develop their own interests and skills.

Recently the group was left an inheritance a part of which was used to support the scholarship. The scholarship provides opportunities for those who have excelled in their entry qualifications, are from Calderdale and studying art related degrees in the Leeds School of Arts. The Pleasant Pastimes Scholarship was made possible through a partnership facilitated by the Community Foundation for Calderdale, which supports hundreds of charities and voluntary groups across Calderdale.

The scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to work with the Pleasant Pastimes group to learn from their skills and arts and crafts knowledge, and have the opportunity to present their work to the group.
