Chloe came to Leeds Beckett to study Social Work as she wanted to do the best for her family. She gave birth to her son in March 2018 and since then has been juggling her university studies with caring for son, regularly commuting between her home in Scarborough and university. She will use the scholarship to contribute to these costs and childcare for her young son.

"The scholarship meant that I could pay for four months of childcare up front. It’s such a big weight off my shoulders knowing that’s paid for."

Chloe says “I live an hour and a half to two hours away so obviously fuel is a big factor, travelling to and from university is between three and four hours of travelling a day. I also have to put my son into childcare so that’s a big financial factor for me, it’s costly.”

After she graduates Chloe wants to specialise in child protection within a school, something she is passionate about as a strong believer in protecting vulnerable individuals.
